I use Kubuntu 10.04 LTS on 2 offbeat systems, great results.
First system is an older desktop running a Celeron D 64bit single core CPU, Ati X800XL graphics card, 2 internal hard disks (40 gig mounted as a subdirectory of the host 120 gig) and 1 gig of ram. Wireless NIC is a broadcom based Buffalo Technologies 802.11 g card, which usually sends me into fits with many top distros, but flawless setup in Kubuntu 10.04 LTS.
Second system is an Asus EeePC 900A netbook where I upgraded the solid state hard disk from stock 4 gig to a faster 32 gig, and I increased the memory from 1 gig to 2 gig. Used PCLinuxOS 2010 on the Celeron box for a while, but Kubuntu releases are smoother and the breadth of pre-packaged software offered is a bit wider, too.
